2023 Koloc Writing Awards
The Koloc Writing Awards ceremony was held at the Writing Center in the O'Hara Student Center, Friday, March 22nd. The Koloc Awards recognize any undergraduate student whose progress in Workshop in Composition or ESL Workshop in Composition was outstanding. Cave Canem was founded by Toi Derricotte and Cornelius Eady with a mission to "cultivat[e] the artistic and professional growth of Black poets...[] by facilitating a nurturing space in which to learn, experiment, create, and present."ENGCMP 1130 Projects in Digital Composition Showcase Interactive Kiosk
Students in Professor Stephen Quigley's Fall 2023 offering of the course ENGCMP 1130 Projects in Digital Composition learned interaction design principles and designed digital projects to display on a touch-screen interface. Projects in Digital Composition is part of both the DNID and PPW Major, drawing students from both programs, as well as students looking to fulfill their W requirement for the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences.
Cultural Rhetorics Visiting Scholars Series
Professor Alexandra Hidalgo's Cultural Rhetorics graduate course will be joined by three speakers, Aja Y. Martinez, Vox Jo Hsu, and Ana Milena Ribero in a series of talks on their work in Cultural Rhetorics.

Dr. Leonora Anyango won Harvard University’s Derek Bok Public Service Award!
This prestigious award for undergraduate and master’s graduates at Harvard recognizes creative initiatives in community service or long-standing records of civic achievement. Dr. Anyango—a Teaching Professor in the Composition program—was honored for mentoring college students, working with refugees and other international students in Pittsburgh, and financing education for blind youth in Kenya. The award comes with $3000, which Dr. Anyango will use to support the education of blind youth in Kenya.
