The Allegheny Front covers environmental issues and how they intersect with the economy, health, technology, culture, and quality of life in western Pennsylvania. We are affiliated with 90.5 WESA, a public radio station in Pittsburgh.

The Allegheny Front produces an award-winning half-hour weekly radio program (and podcast) that is syndicated throughout Pennsylvania. We produce audio news reports, feature and enterprise stories, special series, interviews and commentaries. Digital news reports accompany all of our audio reporting. Our staff includes two reporters, a producer/host and an editor. We collaborate with local, statewide and national media outlets.

We are seeking an intern this summer (2024) for up to 30 hours, with a mix of remote and office work at 67 Bedford Square, Pittsburgh, 15203 in the Southside.

This internship position pays $15 an hour, funded by a Pitt English Department Internship Grant.
In order to receive funding, you must fit these eligibility requirements:

  • Must be an English major (including DNID), minor, or certificate student, including PPW, Children's Literature, Public Communication of Science and Technology, and Disability Studies.
  • Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Must provide internship summary, materials, and thank-you for funder at end of the internship.
  • Must not have received an English Department Internship Grant previously.
