Sam Pittman




Sam Pittman teaches courses in the Composition and Public and Professional Writing programs, and serves as a Faculty Consultant at the Writing Center. With backgrounds in poetry, science and technical writing, ESL, and Disability Studies, Sam teaches an array of courses in the English Department. Sam is designing courses in the emerging Disability Studies Certificate program, for which he will serve as Director. He has coordinated the International Café series of writing workshops for international students at the Writing Center, and has served as Co-Organizer of the Summer Workshop in Creative Science Writing. Author of the poetry chapbook Mostly Water (2016), Sam’s writing can also be found in publications such as Grist, Bellevue Literary Review, Newfound, NEXTpittsburgh, and others. He received a BA from University of California, Berkeley, and an MFA in Writing from the University of Pittsburgh. In addition to new course development, Sam is currently working on writing center scholarship and a full-length poetry manuscript.
