When asked what he does at the University of Pittsburgh, Thomas Marchi answers: “I’m a writing teacher, and I love it.” With a BA in English Lit. and an MFA in Writing, he's worked as “Managing Editor of Corporate Communications” for major Fortune 500 companies. Nowadays, he helps others communicate clearly, carefully, and meaningfully to ultimately benefit their future readers. Such real-world writing, editing, and publishing experiences directly informs his writing instruction. Here at Pitt, he's taught courses in Seminar in Composition, Written Professional Communications, ESL Workshop in Composition, and Seminar in Composition Engineering. When he reads Pitt students' work, he finds passion about their content and a determination toward career excellence. That’s why he loves being a “writing teacher.”
