Kerry's dissertation, Complex Descriptive Systems: An Object-Oriented Poetics for Rhetoric and Writing spans the fields of composition, technology studies, visual culture, and poetics (with a focus on histories of ekphrasis and collaboration). She earned an MFA in poetry from the University of Montana and has worked as a technical writer and web producer, in addition to spending some time doing ecology fieldwork. In 2016, her cross-platform approach to teaching writing and digital media was recognized with a Kairos Teaching Award.
