Undergraduate Writing Awards

The Composition Program Writing Contest

• Undergraduates enrolled in any course offered by the Composition Program are eligible to enter its annual Writing Contest. Submission guidelines and prize-winning essays are available online, along with commentary from the judges.

The Ossip Awards

• A&S undergraduates are eligible to submit a piece of critical or research writing to be considered for an Ossip Award. The deadline is the second Friday in May each year, and entries are judged by the College Writing Board.  Winners (who receive cash prizes) will be announced in the fall. Further information about the Awards is available online, along with a submission form.

The Koloc Award

• Any student whose progress in Intensive Workshop in Composition has been outstanding may be nominated by his or her teacher for the Koloc Award, named in honor of long-time Director of Advising, Fred Koloc. Teacher nominations should be submitted with student portfolios following the End-of-Term-Review.
