Filmmaker Chris Ivey speaks about his East of Liberty documentary, a project that began in 2005 when he was hired to capture the demolition of a low-income housing apartment building. The project has since expanded into a three-part investigative series into residents’ experiences with gentrification.
“The goal has been to create a historical record that captures the essence of community change and exposes taboos in frank conversation—from displacement to neighborhood violence to discussions of race and class—which most redevelopment efforts ignore.” (eastofliberty.com)
